No Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway PC Demo?

It appears that Gearsoft themselves realise the mediocrity of Hell’s Highway as Randy Pitchford is uncertain whether PCs will see a demo:

We are 100 per cent certain there will be a demo for Xbox 360, 99 per cent certain there will be a demo for PS3, and about 50 per cent certain there will be a demo for PC

Well about time, Microsoft realised PC gamers hate paying to play online multiplayer and thus are making their Games for Windows LIVE service free. All features that required a gold account are now accessible free of cost. Yay indeed as the platform is finally evolving and who knows, maybe big as Steam some day?

In addition to making Games for Windows Live free, Microsoft will also be creating a brand new GFW marketplace this fall to rival the marketplace found on the Xbox 360. As with the Xbox Live Marketplace, GFW’s will offer demos, videos, downloadable content, and more. The GFW interface will also receive some tech-friendly changes, lowering requirements for developers looking to make their games GFW compatible.

This Is Vegas Delayed, Now Coming in 2009

Midway’s moneyshot (heh) title has been pushed back to 2009. The reason for the delay is extra polishing, which is always good.

Midway is committed to developing and publishing the best quality products. It is important for us to make sure the game was given the development time needed in order to make This is Vegas a triple-A videogame and a must-have for all PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC owners.

Microsoft: Xbox360 More Important Than PC

h3-x360.jpg

Despite running Games for Windows campaign and being a member of PC Gaming Alliance, Microsoft has admitted prioritizing releases and favoring their game console - Xbox360 instead of PCs. Yes, hypocrisy is a wonderful thing…atleast in Microsoft’s perception.

On a global scale the Windows Vista business is as important as our Xbox 360 business. But in Germany for example, we want more gamers to buy our Xbox 360. If we launch a game that is on 360 and PC simultaneously, we basically shoot ourselves in the foot by allowing the German market to choose to play the PC version – because they are more likely to buy that than spend their money on the Xbox 360. On a global scale the PC is very relevant to us. And I would say that 90 per cent of the games that are pitched to us are on console. We’re strongly perceived as a console publisher because we’re the first-party publisher even though the Windows operating system is equally important to us. If we launched a Halo game on PC and 360 in Germany simultaneously, 80 per cent of sales would be on the PC. So we need to pick and choose our formats.

Call of Duty: World at War Unveiled

According to Official Xbox Magazine, the latest Call of Duty game; Call of Duty: World at War, will be going back to World War II. However, this time, the setting will be Pacific Theater — furthermore, instead of Infinity Ward developing the title, it’ll be Treyarch Studios. Treyarch’s previous work includes developing console exclusive Call of Duty 3.

Treyarch has supposedly refreshed the A.I., instead of taking covers, the soldiers now go full blown Kamikaze and rush you with their swords/guns. Which, amusingly, sounds awfully similar to Medal of Honor titles.

More details/screenshots are available in the magazine. We’ll post them as they become available to Press.

Call of Duty 4 - v1.6 Patch & FREE Map Pack

In sponsorship with nVIDIA, Infinity Ward will be releasing Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack on PC…for FREE. This is the same map pack that is available on Xbox LIVE for 800 Microsoft points. Infinity Ward will also release Patch v1.6 that fixes numerous exploits/bugs, server crash and adds support for the four new maps.

The Variety Map Pack includes four new maps for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare multiplayer including Broadcast, Chinatown, Killhouse, and Creek.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction delayed till 2009/2010? [Updated]

According to the Xbox World 360 magazine, Ubisoft Montreal’s upcoming stealth-action title has supposedly gone “back to the drawing board”.

The reason behind it is Ubisoft’s own Assassin’s Creed title; since the company feels the design & gameplay of Assassin’s Creed outdate Splinter Cell: Conviction’s design. Read more

Ben Cousins: “Web is the future of gaming”

Ben Cousins, DICE’s executive producer and the senior developer of upcoming Battlefield: Heroes game was interviewed by GamesIndusty.biz. Cousins says the web will be the dominant gaming platform of the future. This statement holds plenty of ground when you look at the crazy popularity of “casual” web based video games. Ofcourse, let’s not forget Battlefield: Heroes is also browser based and is catergorised as a “casual” game.

“People talk about which of the two, PlayStation or Xbox, is going to be the big platform of the future,” Cousins said.

“I think the web is going to be the big platform of the future, whether it’s running on an iPhone or a Mac or on the PC.”
