Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X Gets Satellite Imagery


Ubisoft’s upcoming will incorporate high-resolution satellite imagery from GeoEye. Check out the related media and full PR below.

Today, Ubisoft and GeoEye, Inc. announced that GeoEye, a premier provider of satellite, aerial and geospatial information, has provided high-resolution images taken from its commercial Earth-imaging IKONOS satellite for integration into Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the Sony PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and on Windows-based PC. Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X will be available in early 2009.

Ubisoft Delays Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X.

Continuing with the delays, Ubisoft has also pushed back the release date of their flight sim; H.A.W.X.

The game will now be zooming away sometime in early 2009.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction Delayed

Sam Fisher will be late on his latest assignment as Ubisoft’s latest quarterly report has confirmed the rumored (now final) delay of Splinter Cell: Conviction. The game will now be sneaking into your PCs/consoles in 2009/2010. Bad luck, Sam.

− Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, whose release was previously scheduled for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2008-09, will now bolster the line-up for fiscal 2009-10.

Hybride Technologies Acquired by Ubisoft

Ubisoft, the french games publisher/developer has acquired canadian based visual effects studio; Hybride Technologies. Hybride Technologies’s portfolio includes blockbuster movies like 300, Sin City. Hybride is notable for giving movies almost a video game look by using unique visuals. Ubisoft plans to use Hybride’s technology in their games. Ubisoft did not disclose the amount of the buyout.

Today Ubisoft announced the acquisition of Hybride Technologies, a Montreal-based studio renowned for its expertise in the creation of visual effects for cinema, television and advertising.

Created over 15 years ago, Hybride employs 80 team members. The studio’s many projects include such innovative films as 300, Frank Miller’s Sin City and the Spy Kids series. Read more

Splinter Cell: Conviction development still on track, says Ubisoft

Amidst all the confusion, Ubisoft has announced their next Splinter Cell title is shaping up nicely and “still on track”. The developer team posted the announcement on the official Ubisoft forums:

 It’s been a while since our last message but we’re happy to say that development of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction is continuing well and the game is shaping up nicely. The team here is very dedicated and focused to making sure that Conviction turns into an amazing experience of Splinter Cell.

There are lots of rumours flying around right now about Conviction’s development status and we can tell you that the gameplay has evolved, similar to what happens in every game’s development process, and you won’t be disappointed. We take your feedback from these forums very seriously and, although we can’t respond to each and every thing people say, we do take these posts into consideration when making the game.

Unfortunately we’re not able to make Ubidays this year but in the forthcoming months we’ll be back in touch to begin showing you this new installment of the Splinter Cell series.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction delayed till 2009/2010? [Updated]

According to the Xbox World 360 magazine, Ubisoft Montreal’s upcoming stealth-action title has supposedly gone “back to the drawing board”.

The reason behind it is Ubisoft’s own Assassin’s Creed title; since the company feels the design & gameplay of Assassin’s Creed outdate Splinter Cell: Conviction’s design. Read more

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 v1.01 Patch Released

Ubisoft Montreal has released the first patch for their tactical FPS, Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Release notes below:

* Added Voice Chat Support
* Pressing F5 now refreshes the match search list
* Fix for spawn camping
* Switch weapon is now faster in adversarial
* Lower respawn timer for deathmatch and team deathmatch
* Added Team balance XP penalty
* Enabled outfitting option in observer mode.
* Team Leader respawn modification: Respawning with the leader is now the default option
