Team Fortress 2 Won’t Get Any Love Till 2009

tf2_group_2

Unfortunately, Team Fortress 2 won’t be getting any more updates or unlocks until the next year. So far, Valve has released Unlocks and Achievements for Medic, Pyro and Heavy Weapons Guy. Valve has yet to release any unlocks for Demoman, Soldier, Spy, Engineer or Sniper. Regardless of what way you look at this, it’s clear that this was done to put the spotlight on Left 4 Dead. A shitty move, but what can the players do…

Well, it won’t be this year,” said Lombardi when asked about the next update. “But we’re going to keep evolving TF2. Once Left 4 Dead wraps, you’ll hear us clamoring more about [Team Fortress 2].

Valve Spawns Left 4 Dead Blog

left-4-dead-blog
Following Team Fortress 2, Valve has created a Left 4 Dead blog to keep in touch with the SteamCommunity and give an insight into the Left 4 Dead developmental process. Oddly enough, with the game being scheduled to release next month, it does seem like it’s a bit late to open up a developmental blog. Ofcourse, with a dedicated blog, there’s a great chance we’ll get some post-release DLC. Ummm…tasty free content!

Since we announced Left 4 Dead in late 2006, the growing online community has been a great source of feedback and support during the development process. We’re planning on using this blog to talk more directly with that community - through stories, artwork, and insights into our design and development process. There’s also a Left 4 Dead forum where we’re hoping you’ll let us know what you think of the blog, the game, or anything else L4D-related.

Sony Defeats Valve in a Team Fortress 2 Match

tf2-pre-beta

Losing a game you spent 8 years developing? Yes, that’s fail at epic proportions. Valve invited SOE to play some TF2 and boy did they play. SOE (Sony Online Entertainment) defeated Valve in a Team Fortress 2 match-up where SOE won by 6-0. Unfourtunately, you’d have to endure the god-awful Jace Hall show to get some info.

Team Fortress 2 - Arena Mode Unveiled

pyro-lumberyard

Valve has revealed the all-new gameplay mode for Team Fortress 2; Arena. In the simplest terms, Arena is team-deathmatch with capture points thrown in for good measure. That’s not all, Arena mode will also feature 2 brand new maps - Lumberyard and Ravine alongside 3 old maps (Well, Granary, Badlands) that have been re-worked for Arena mode. While Ravine keeps the familiar dust/industrial feel of other TF2 maps, Lumberyard has a completely different jungle-type environment! Check out full details as well as screenshots after the jump.

TF2 Arena keeps the class diversity of Team Fortress 2 while focusing goals around combat between two teams. Where other game modes lean towards a broad overall strategy for the team over a number of lives, Arena concentrates on the specific tactical choices the teams make in a single fight.
