Hardware based encryption chip to cure Piracy?

All the lousy pirates can now get ready to walk the plank as hardware based encryption will soon make PC games piracy impossible. Speaking at Wedbush Morgan Securities annual Management Access Conference; Nolan Bushwell, founder of Atari, revealed details about the hardware based anti-piracy measure:

There is a stealth encryption chip called a TPM that is going on the motherboards of most of the computers that are coming out now,” he pointed out

“What that says is that in the games business we will be able to encrypt with an absolutely verifiable private key in the encryption world - which is uncrackable by people on the internet and by giving away passwords - which will allow for a huge market to develop in some of the areas where piracy has been a real problem.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction delayed till 2009/2010? [Updated]

According to the Xbox World 360 magazine, Ubisoft Montreal’s upcoming stealth-action title has supposedly gone “back to the drawing board”.

The reason behind it is Ubisoft’s own Assassin’s Creed title; since the company feels the design & gameplay of Assassin’s Creed outdate Splinter Cell: Conviction’s design. Read more

Jade Raymond’s Assassin’s Creed Director’s Cut has been officially released to retail stores. This, after getting leaked to the internet a month before.

Ubisoft has teamed with Valve’s Steam to distribute more than 40 of their titles. The library includes Tom Clancy games as well as FarCry and the upcoming PC port of Assassin’s Creed.

Two fan favorites are now available to customers in Canada and the United States: the acclaimed action shooter, Far Cry, and the debut game in the groundbreaking stealth action series, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell. Save 10% on either game when you buy before Tuesday, April 8th.
