Epic Games On Used Game Sales

Ah our good old friends at Epic, notorious for atrocious statements and one-dimensional thickheaded Game Designers, so far, we know Epic’s stance on everything from fucking a girl to how they perceive PC gaming. But what about their opinions on used game sales? Epic’s President Michael Capps chimes in and expounds;
I’ve talked to some developers who are saying “If you want to fight the final boss you go online and pay USD 20, but if you bought the retail version you got it for free”. We don’t make any money when someone rents it, and we don’t make any money when someone buys it used - way more than twice as many people played Gears than bought it…

In fact, we’re working together on a major expansion to Unreal Tournament 3, that we expect will excite and grow our UT3 customer base which, incidentally, now numbers over a million units sold-through world-wide.

CliffyB Wants Your Attention

It’s absolutely amazing how egotistical and self-centered people can be. Even more so when we talk about someone like CliffyB who’s a re-owned attention whore. CliffyB’s current crisis: He’s not getting enough attention!
“I don’t think the industry values visionaries as much as it could,” Bleszinski said to Gamasutra. “Look at a guy like [BioShock designer] Ken Levine or [Fable II designer Peter] Molyneux or [Demigod designer] Chris Taylor or [Metal Gear Solid designer Hideo] Kojima. I mean, we all need to celebrate these people,” he asserted.
Rather amazing how Mr.Bleszinski speaks of Molyneux and Levine but just forgets to mention people like Gabe Newell (Half Life), Robin Walker (Team Fortress 2), Will Wright (Sims, Spore) or Sid Meier (Civilization) Don’t worry Cliffy, the day you retire, we’ll all celebrate!
CliffyB.Well.Fall.Die.

The amazing douchebag known as CliffyB as struck once again with his ignorant and misinformed comments. In an interview with TotalVideoGames, the windbag cited piracy as an excuse not to bring Gears of War 2 on the PC. Here’s a quote:
Do you see the Xbox 360 as the main platform as opposed to the PC? During the whole Unreal time it was very much PC focused.
The PC right now is a fair amount different to what it was back in the day, with all the badly integrated video chips. Here’s the problem right now; the person who is savvy enough to want to have a good PC to upgrade their video card, is a person who is savvy enough to know bit torrent to know all the elements so they can pirate software. Therefore, high-end videogames are suffering very much on the PC.
So piracy was a main point for you…
Right now, it makes sense for us to focus on Xbox 360 for a number of reasons. Not least PCs with multiple configurations and piracy.
For fucks sake, Cliffy, do you have your head up your ass? Crysis sold 1 million copies despite the whining that Crytek did. Spore, after all it’s controvesies, lawsuits and hatred, managed to sell 1 million copies in less than a month. Seriously, how pathetic has Epic Games become. Way to orphan the platform that brought you to the dance…
