More licensing revenue for Epic games as a Korean developer has bought a license for their upcoming MMO; L2.
Press Release:
Seoul-based T-Entertainment today announced that it has licensed Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 3 for an upcoming project codenamed L2, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG).
While staying true to the roots of T-Entertainment’s previous MMORPGs, Laghaim and Last Chaos, L2 draws on elements from role-playing (RPG) and real-time strategy (RTS) games, and can be described as “futuristic fantasy with a taste of space opera.” L2 is being developed for PC, and is scheduled for a worldwide release in 2010. THQ to Purchase Elephant Entertainment?

According to GameDaily BIZ, THQ is preparing to buy-out the Minneapolis based games publisher, Elephant Entertainment. A company that was started by ex-ATARI executive Wim Stocks. Here’s the full quote:
GameDaily BIZ has learned from an industry source that THQ is preparing to acquire Minneapolis-based game publisher startup Elephant Entertainment, a company founded by former longtime Atari executive Wim Stocks. THQ would neither confirm, nor deny the news, simply telling us it’s their policy not to comment on rumor. We’ve been hearing that the deal will be done by Friday.
Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter, who covers THQ stock, said the deal, if it happens, “makes a lot of sense.”
