EA has released the BETA version of the recently announced v1.50 Patch. The new patch adds two new maps as well as various fixes.
Starting today you can be part of the Beta phase of Battlefield 2142 Update 1.50. Update 1.50 is a big step for Battlefield as it is the first time we have included community created maps and included them into an update. Wake Island makes a come back thanks to The Sir. Community and appears alongside a brand new map new to Battlefield created by Jason Brice, Operation Shingle. Also, for those who prefer to fight on foot, we have added a No Vehicle option to a number of maps to allow you to fight without worrying if you’ll come face to face with a Battle Walker. Also, as requested by match broadcasting groups we have separated the Commanders voice volume from the Sound Effects so you can keep the explosions and gun fire without the Commander interrupting the broadcast. Planet Battlefield has the latest details on the upcoming v1.50 patch for Battlefield 2142. The v1.50 patch will also contain two new maps and is scheduled to release sometime in the near-future.
Q. What new content will we see in Battlefield 2142 Update 1.50?
A. As well as a number of bug fixes and tweaks based on community feedback we are going to be releasing two new maps created by community members. Wake Island makes its return to Battlefield PC thanks to the guys at Sir. Community and a map which you may have heard of called Anzio will be appearing with a name change as Operation Shingle created by Jason Brice. We are also bringing a No Vehicles option to a number of 2142 maps for those players who want to fight it out on foot as well as allowing you to access 16:9 and 16:10 resolutions for those widescreen monitors. We also heard your cries for movement in pods to be re-introduced on transport ship escape pods so we have been working on giving that back to you while still limiting pod surfing use.
EA: “In-game Ads not “Silver Bullet”
Talks of In-game advertising reducing prices for retail games has been tossed around a lot lately. EA’s Battlefield 2142 was the first game to use dynamic in-game advertising module, but what about other titles? Is it possible to reduce the costs of games by placing ads in them? According to EA, No it’s not. Next-Gen had a chat over the phone with EA’s Shelby Cox regarding all these things. Here’s a snip:
“Advertising is not going to be that silver bullet to make everything okay,” she said. “We’re looking at a lot of different things to offset these rising dev costs. Next-gen dev costs are astronomical. We’re looking for any way to try and offset that, and in-game advertising is one of those things.”
